The new media guide has created a new platform for comprehensive knowledge transfer for one of Germany’s largest museums. Versatile tours, improved navigation, AR experiences, and accessible content support the museum’s claim to be “a museum for everyone.”
For the Deutsches Museum, we developed a public app that can be used as an interactive media guide for the six-story, newly renovated and designed exhibition area. The app offers users the possibility to explore different exhibitions and areas through multiple tours.
Individual visitor experience
Visitors can take advantage of extensive personalization options, such as choosing an avatar, selecting between light and dark user interfaces, and listing memorized exhibits and displays.
Context-based
The app has a context-based home screen. This means that the widget layout of the home screen changes dynamically depending on whether users are at home or in a museum.
Free exploration
With the Explore mode, users can freely navigate through the exhibition and discover exhibits. In Near Me mode, they receive suggestions for exhibits in their immediate vicinity based on their current location. In addition, AR wayfinding and a search function help users find exhibits and stops on site.
Augmented Reality Orgel
How does an organ actually work? The model can be “opened” and all parts can be discovered. The organ can also be played! An octave and five stop buttons invite you to try it out!
