The former emergency reception camp for GDR refugees is now a place of learning and remembrance, for which we developed the website and an app with AR experiences.
The compact website provides all the important information you need to plan your visit: opening times, directions and event information.
On site, the app offers in-depth access to the history of the camp. Users can choose between guided tours with individual stops or free exploration – supported by AR experiences at selected locations.

AR experiences – history becomes tangible
The augmented reality experiences are a particular highlight of the app: Visitors travel through German-German history on the “Wunderbus”. In addition, Mirko Drotschmann alias “MrWissen2Go” accompanies visitors as a digital AR guide and vividly conveys everyday life in the camp at the time.

Deepen knowledge via scan
The former emergency reception center has a lot to tell. But how do you convey historical depth without wall texts becoming excessive?
We have developed a feature that links analog exhibition texts with explanations within the app. Technically, this “Object Character Recognition” works by storing glossary terms in the CMS. If one of these terms appears in a wall text and a visitor scans it with their cell phone camera, the word is recognized. A page with further information then opens.
