Experience Augmented Reality Art in Urban Spaces: The app that launched in Vienna in 2024 as “Vdonaukanal” will become “K1_Art” in 2025 – an international platform for digital art in public space.
With K1_Art, the city becomes a gallery for digital art. An interactive GPS map shows the locations of the works, which can be explored from every perspective in the AR player. And if you’re not on-site, you can enjoy the augmented reality artworks right from your living room.
Start with “Vdounaukanal”
In the first edition of “Vdonaukanal” (April 2024), visitors could explore 15 digital artworks along Vienna’s Danube Canal.
In May 2025, the second edition of Vdonaukanal” was launched in cooperation with Vienna Digital Culture – this time featuring new interactive artworks around Kunsthalle Wien.
“Vdonaukanal” becomes “K1_Art”
In September 2025, “Vdonaukanal” goes international. The third edition of the virtual gallery, founded in 2024, presents digital AR art in Sarajevo. With this step toward internationalization, the app also receives a new name: “Vdonaukanal” becomes “K1_Art”.
